$150,000 Arlington Oaks Draws Field of Eight
On Saturday at Arlington Park, a field of eight three-year-old fillies will compete for a purse of $150,000 in the Arlington Oaks. The Grade 3 event will be contested at a mile and an eighth over the synthetic main track.
Top choice on the morning line at 2-1 is Aurelia’s Belle, a bay daughter of Lemon Drop Kid trained by Wayne Catalano and ridden by Channing Hill. A $170,000 purchase as a yearling, Aurelia’s Belle has won three of her seven lifetime starts and in her most recent outing was moved up to first via disqualification to win the Grade 3 Regret Stakes on the turf at Churchill Downs. The one blemish in her career was a ninth place finish behind superstar Untapable in the Kentucky Oaks.
Interrupted looking for first graded stakes win
Second choice at 3-1 is Interrupted, a homebred daughter of Broken Vow bred and owned by Pin Oak Stud. Trained by Graham Motion and ridden regularly by Angel Serpa, the bay filly will be trying synthetic surfaces for the first time after making all four career starts on the turf. She has won three of those four races and is looking for her first graded stakes victory after a game victory in the Pennsylvania Oaks.
Stellaris is proven over synthetics
Michael Stidham will send out synthetic specialist Stellaris with James Graham in the irons. Installed at 9-2, the three-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday has won two of her four starts with both coming on synthetic tracks. She was last seen finishing second in the Northbound Pride Oaks as the even-money favorite. She is scheduled to break from post position five.
