$150,000 Iroquois Stakes Draws Full Field of Twelve
On Saturday at Churchill Downs, the track will host the $150,000 Iroquois Stakes. Restricted to two-year-olds, the Grade 3 event will be run at a mile and a sixteenth with the added incentive of the winner automatically qualifying for the Breeders Cup Juvenile (G1).
Topping the wide open field of twelve is Conquest Windycity for trainer Mark Casse who has been tabbed as the favorite at 7-2 odds. A dark bay son of Tiznow, he was purchased for $800,000 in March. He will be stepping up to stakes company and will be trying to break his maiden after finishing second in his debut at Saratoga in August, beaten only 1 ¼ legths. Shaun Bridgmohan will be back aboard and they will break from the rail.
Unbridled Outlaw taking on stakes company
Second choice at 4-1 on the morning line is Unbridled Outlaw for trainer Dale Romans. Purchased for $330,000 as a yearling, the dark bay son of Unbridled’s Song was third in his career debut and followed that up with a victory at Ellis Park last time out. He will be making his first start against stakes company and will have Corey Lanerie in the irons from post position five.
Condominium trying to break his maiden
Also in the field at morning line odds of 8-1 is Condominium for trainer D. Wayne Lukas. A $400,000 purchase as a yearling, he is by Tiznow out of the graded stakes winning mare Garden District. After an eighth place effort in his debut, he was second against maiden company last time out and will try to move forward off that. Jon Court will be aboard from post four.
