
American Pharoah Going for Glory in $1.5 Million Belmont Stakes
American Pharoah tops the field as the favorite at odds of 3-5 on the morning line for trainer Bob Baffert. A bay son of Pioneerof the Nile, he has won six of his seven starts and is undefeated from four outings this year. After winning the Kentucky Derby (G1) by one length, he came back to romp by seven-lengths in the Preakness Stakes (G1). Victor Espinoza, his regular rider, will be in the irons and they will break from post position five.
Frosted trying to play the role of spoiler
Frosted has been tabbed as the second choice at 5-1 on the morning line for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. A gray son of Tapit, he has been on the board in six of his eight starts and won the Wood Memorial (G1) in his final prep before finishing fourth in the Kentucky Derby (G1). He has been training steadily at Belmont Park since his last race and is scheduled to break from post position six under jockey Joel Rosario.
Tale of Verve improving with each start
Also in the field at morning line odds of 15-1 is Tale of Verve for trainer Dallas Stewart. A bay son of Tale of Ekati bred and owned by Charles Fipke, he has one win from seven starts and broke his maiden in his sixth career start. He made his stakes debut in the Preakness Stakes (G1) and finished second. He will get a jockey change to Gary Stevens and they will break from post position two.
