Bench Warrant Serving Eight Rivals in $75,000 Pasadena Stakes
On Saturday at Santa Anita, the track will host the 35th running of the $75,000 Pasadena Stakes. Carded at one mile on the turf, the race has drawn a field of nine three-year-old colts and geldings.
Topping the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 is Bench Warrant for trainer John Sadler. Purchased for $110,000 as a juvenile, the chestnut son of Street Boss has won half of his six career starts and is two for two over the Santa Anita lawn. He delivered as the favorite last time out in the Baffle Stakes and closed to win by a neck despite a slow start. Regular rider Tyler Baze will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Daddy D T going for second stakes victory
John Sadler will also saddle the second choice, Daddy D T, at morning line odds of 3-1. A ridgling son of Scat Daddy purchased for $250,000 as a yearling, he broke his maiden against stakes company as a juvenile and has won one of his six starts. He was second last time out against optional claiming competition as the favorite and will break from post position two under Joe Talamo.
Papacoolpapacool trying for third straight win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Papacoolpapacool for trainer Phil D’Amato. A gelded son of Temple City, he has won two of his six starts and will be trying to earn the first stakes win of his career. Last time out, he prevailed by a neck over Daddy D T in an optional claiming race. Elvis Trujillo will be back aboard and they will break from post position four.
