Competitive Bowling Green Cap Draws Nine
Innovation Economy is the 5/2 morning line favorite for trainer Chad Brown. The lightly-raced four year-old not only hails from a top turf barn, but also boasts a strong distance pedigree as a son of the late stallion Dynaformer. With four wins in six career starts, Innovation Economy has found his niche racing long on the turf, winning his last three starts dating back to November 2014. Each of those three wins came at turf distances of at least a 1 3/8 miles, including his most recent victory in the Belmont Gold Cup at two miles. Jockey Irad Ortiz will retain the mount and the pair should once again be rolling late.
Imagining will contend for favoritism
At 3/1 Imagining has more class, more tactical speed, and better speed figures than the favorite. The Shug McGaughey-trainee ran a deceptively good fifth in the Grade 1 United Nations at Monmouth last out after being bumped at the start. Imagining has a win and two second place finishes at Saratoga in three starts and has been training forwardly at the Spa.
Winner likely to come from behind
War Dancer (7/2) and Red Rifle (5/1) each possess good early speed in marathon turf races, but with both breaking from the inside - and a host of outside speed also signed on – their chances of stealing the race are minimal.
