Condo Commando Headlines Field for $300,000 Gazelle Stakes
Condo Commando has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 8-5 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. A dark bay daughter of Tiz Wonderful, she has won four of her five starts and is a multiple graded stakes winner. Last time out, she made her sophomore debut a winning one as the heavy favorite on the front end in the Busher Stakes. Joel Rosario will be back in the irons and they will break from post five.
Wonder Gal training steadily for first start of the year
Leah Gyarmati will saddle the second choice, Wonder Gal, at odds of 7-2 on the morning line. Bred in New York, the dark bay filly has one win from four starts which came against restricted state-bred competition. She has been on the shelf since finishing third behind champion Take Charge Brandi in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and has been training steadily since then. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be aboard for the first time from post position four.
Stakes debut for well-bed Sweet Corine
Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Sweet Corine for trainer Claude McGaughey,III. A homebred daughter of Pulpit for owner Emory Hamilton, she is a full sister to graded stakes winner El Padrino and a half to Grade 1 winner Verrazano. She will be making her stakes debut after breaking her maiden in January in her second career start. Javier Castellano will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
