Full Field of Fourteen Set for $250,000 American Turf Stakes
Luck of the Kitten tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 7-2 for trainer Wesley Ward. A chestnut son of Kitten’s Joy, he has been on the board in all six starts and has two victories to his credit. He is trying to earn the first graded stakes victory of his career and was last seen finishing second in the Transylvania Stakes (G3) in his sophomore debut. Joel Rosario will be aboard for the first time and they will break from the rail.
A Lot going for second consecutive victory
Bill Mott will saddle A Lot as the second choice at 9-2 on the morning line. A bay son of Tapit purchased for $410,000 as a yearling, he is a two-time winner and is stepping back up to stakes company after winning an optional claiming race at Gulfstream Park in February. He has been training steadily since that race and will have jockey John Velazquez back in the irons from post position six.
Consistent Conquest Typhoon back on turf
Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Conquest Typhoon for trainer Mark Casse. A bay son of Stormy Atlantic purchased as a yearling for $330,000 by Conquest Stables, he has been on the board in seven of his eight starts and is switching back to the turf after two competitive efforts over synthetics in both starts as a three-year-old. Mike Smith has the mount and they will break from post position eight.
