Barber Road has been a common fixture underneath in three-year-old stakes races recently. He has run second in his last three starts, including a runner-up finish behind Newgrange in the Southwest last month. With excellent pace versatility, consistently good efforts at two turns, and a hot rider in Reylu Gutierrez, Barber Road is well primed for another stakes placing.
Among the longer shots in the field, consider Ethereal Road. He steps up from the maiden ranks, so will face a class test here. But, he woke up nicely in his first two-turn start over a dry track, overcoming a slow start to win by four lengths at Oaklawn. D. Wayne Lukas can have sneaky price horses up his sleeve at Oaklawn, and if Ethereal Road runs back to his last he is a great candidate to sweeten the exotics.
