Kiss To Remember Faces Twelve in $60,000 Pago Hop Stakes
On Saturday at Fair Grounds, the featured race is the 31st edition of the $60,000 Pago Hop Stakes. Scheduled to be run at one mile on the turf, the race has drawn a field of thirteen three-year-old fillies.
Tom Amoss will saddle the morning line favorite, Kiss to Remember, at odds of 3-1. Owned by Maggi Moss, the chestnut daughter of Big Brown has been first or second in seven of her eight starts this year and has won three of her eleven lifetime outings. She was last seen finishing second in the Treasure Chest Stakes and will be switching back to the turf. James Graham will be aboard for the first time and they are slated to break from post position ten.
Divine Beauty making turf debut
Divine Beauty, a homebred daughter of Divine Park for owner Brereton Jones, is the second choice at 4-1 on the morning line. Trained by Larry Jones, the bay filly has won three of her five starts including a minor stakes at Fair Grounds as a juvenile. She has been on the board in all three starts this year and will be trying the turf for the first time after winning an optional claiming race as the heavy favorite last time out. Kerwin Clark will remain aboard from post seven.
More Than Less back off of brief layoff
Also in the field and a longshot at 10-1 on the morning line is More Than Less for trainer Steve Asmussen. A dark bay daughter of More Than Ready, she will be trying to earn her first stakes victory and has been on the board in three of her four starts. She broke her maiden at first asking in June and has been on the shelf for three months following a runner-up effort at Kentucky Downs. Brian Hernandez, Jr. has picked up the mount and they will break from post ten.
