Wide Open Field of Seven Set for $250,000 Lexington Stakes
Fame and Power has been tabbed as the favorite in the wide-open race at odds of 5-2 for trainer Bob Baffert. A dark bay son of First Defence, he will be making his stakes debut for owner Juddmonte Farms after breaking his maiden in his fifth career start last time out. He has had two consecutive bullet workouts since that race and will break from post position six under jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. who will be in the irons for the first time.
Divining Rod aiming for first stakes victory
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Divining Rod for trainer Arnaud Delacour. A dark bay son of Tapit, he has been on the board in all four career starts and will be trying to earn the first stakes victory of his career. Last time out, he was third in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3) and that performance was flattered when the winner Carpe Diem came back to win the Blue Grass Stakes (G1). Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Comfort making stakes debut after maiden score
Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Comfort who will be making his first start for trainer Todd Pletcher after being privately purchased following his maiden victory. A bay son of Indian Charlie, he made his first two career starts on turf before switching over to conventional dirt at Fair Grounds for his third start, which he won by 4 ¼ lengths over seven rivals. Javier Castellano will be aboard for the first time from post position two.
