Wide Open Field of Ten Set for $500,000 Fourstardave Handicap
King Kreesa has been tabbed as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer David Donk. A six-year-old son of King Kugat bred in New York, he has won nine times and is a multiple graded stakes winner. He was second in the 2013 edition of the Fourstardave Handicap (G2) behind champion Wise Dan. He comes into this race off of back to back victories and will have jockey Jose Ortiz in the irons from post position four.
Mshawish trying to bounce back after Dubai
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Mshawish, one of two horses in the race for trainer Todd Pletcher. A five-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro, he has won six of his eighteen starts and will be making his first start since a competitive third-place finish at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai in March. Prior to that, he had three consecutive stakes victories. John Velazquez will be aboard and they are scheduled to break from the rail.
Seek Again seeking Fourstardave repeat
Also in the field at morning line odds of 6-1 is Seek Again for trainer Bill Mott. A five-year-old son of Speightstown bred and owned by Juddmonte Farms, he has won five of his fifteen starts and his last victory came in the 2014 running of the Fourstardave Handicap (G2). He has been third in both starts this year and has been training steadily since his last race. Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from post five.
